Recipe: Mince Samosa (Keema Ka Samosa)

Samosa is prepared in different styles in Pakistani cuisine. They differ only in stuffing which may be of meat, chicken, vegetables or potato only. This one is keema ka samosa recipe which is a bit spicy in taste due to the addition of crushed chilies which enhances its flavor.Samosa is a stuffed pastry and a popular snack in Pakistan and India. For Mince Stuffing:

  • 250 gm minced meat
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 clove garlic,finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • salt to taste

For Pastry

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tbsp ghee or butter
  • A pinch of salt
  • oil for frying

Directions:

Step 1:

To make Mince Stuffing:Wash and drain mince; set aside.

Step 2

Heat 1 tbsp oil or ghee over medium heat. Fry chopped onion for 2-3 minutes or until translucent.

Step 3

Add garlic and ginger in it. Cook for 2 more minutes then add minced meat, green chilies,red chili powder, curry powder and salt.

Step 4

Cook for few minutes then add 1/2 cup water.

Step 5

Reduce heat to low, Cover with a lid. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until meat is tender and dry.

Step 6

Leave the mince to cool completely.

Step 7

To make pastry: In a small bowl, add flour,ghee or butter and salt. Knead with water and make a soft dough.

Step 8

Make small balls from the prepared pastry.

Step 9

Roll them out with Pin roll, cut into halves.

Step 10

Make a small cone of it and put the cooked mince in it. Press the edges of samosa and set aside.

Step 11

Heat oil in a deep frying pan or skillet. Place samosa in hot oil and deep fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 12

Remove from the oil and drain on kitchen paper. Crispy Mince Samosa is ready to serve.
