Fish with Tartar Sauce

Battered fried fish served with tartar sauce and fries is a classic European food that originated in United Kingdom. I spiced up the original recipe to suite our Eastern taste-buds.

Prep Time:35 minutes

Cook Time:15 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 500 gm boneless fish fillets
  • 1-1/2 lemon
  • 2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • salt to taste

For Batter:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup refined flour
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1 pinch of salt

For Tartar Sauce:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 capsicum, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 olives, thinly sliced
  • black pepper to taste
  • salt to taste

 

Directions:

To make Tartar Sauce:

  1. In a bowl, combine together all tartar sauce ingredients.
  2. Then place in a refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.

To Make Fish:

  1. Rinse fish then cut into pieces.
  2. Rub garlic paste over them.
  3. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Also add lemon juice
  5. Toss well and set aside.

To make Batter:

  1. In a bowl, add eggs, refined flour, salt and pepper.
  2. Mix well and make a thick paste.

To proceed:

  1. Heat oil in a deep wok.
  2. Dip fish fillets in prepared batter then deep fry for 10-15 minutes or , until golden brown.
  3. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  4. Now place fried fish in the serving dish.
  5. Fish with Tartar Sauce is ready to serve.
