    • 500 gm prawns, peeled and cooked
    • 1 cup water
    • 2 onions, finely chopped
    • 1 tsp ginger paste
    • 2 tsp garlic paste
    • 1/2 cup oil or Ghee
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • 4 tsp mild curry powder
    • 2 tsp chili powder
    • 1 tsp garam masala powder
    • 1 tsp whole sizzling Seeds
    • 1 Tin chopped tomatoes
    • 4 tbsp tomato puree

    For Garnishing:

    • fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
    • 4-5 green chillies, thinly sliced

    Step 1

    Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

    Step 2

    When hot add the whole seeds and cook until they sizzle and crackle then add the chopped onions and reduce the heat to low.

    Step 3

    Stir fry onions gently and slowly until they turn into golden.

    Step 4

    Make a paste of the ginger puree, garlic puree, curry powder, turmeric powder, chili powder, with a little water.

    Step 5

    Add this sauce into pan and stir in well and fry for a couple of minutes.

    Step 6

    Now add cooked prawns and stir in well.

    Step 7

    Mix the chopped tomatoes, tomato Puree, together in a blender with 1/2 cup of water.

    Step 8

    Process it and make a fine paste.

    Step 9

    Then pour it into the pan and mix well.

    Step 10

    Turn up the heat until the sauce begins to simmer and leave to simmer for 10 minutes.

    Step 11

    Stir occasionally. Then remove from the heat.

    Transfer into a serving dish and sprinkle garam masala over it.

    Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and green chilies. Prawn Jalfrezi is ready to serve.

    • 2 green chilies, chopped

    • 2 tsp dry fenugreek leaves

    • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
    • 1 tsp garam masala powder
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder.
    • 1/4 tsp tamarind powder

    Step 1

    Heat oil in a deep pan and add the ginger garlic paste, and fry for 1 minute.

    Step 2

    Now add the onions and fry till they are pink in color.

    Step 3

    First soak the whole red chilies in water for 15 minutes and then grind them into a smooth paste along with the tomatoes.

    Step 4

    Add this tomato chili paste to the frying onions.

    Step 5

    Saute for sometime.

    Step 6

    Now add all the spices and the fenugreek leaves. Mix well and add the coconut paste.

    Step 7

    Saute till the time oil leaves this mixture and starts floating over and around it.

    Now add the tamarind powder and mix well. Add water and let it boil.

    Put in the prawns, cover and boil till a thick gravy is formed and prawns are tender.

    Dish it out. Garnish with cream, chopped coriander. Prawn Curry is ready to serve.

    • 300 gm basmati rice
    • 1/4 cup Sliced onion
    • 2 Bay leaf
    • 50 ml coconut milk
    • 1 tbsp coriander leaves
    • 1 tbsp fresh grated coconut
    • 2 tbsp oil or ghee
    • 2 green chillies
    • 2 tsp lemon juice
    • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
    • 1 tsp Whole garam masala
    • Salt to taste

    Step 1

    Pick, wash and soak rice for about 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside.

    Step 2

    Shell, De-vein and wash the prawns.

    Step 3

    Heat Ghee or oil in a thick-bottomed pan.

    Step 4

    Add bay leaves and Whole Garam Masala Let it crackle.

    Step 5

    Add sliced onion, saute for 5 minutes or until the onion turns pink.

    Step 6

    Add water, turmeric powder, lemon juice and green chillies slit into two.

    Step 7

    Bring it to boil and add rice. Cook for a minute and add prawns and coconut milk.

    Step 8

    Season with salt. Stir lightly.

    Step 9

    Stir till rice absorbs all the water and then cover it with a lid and cook it on a slow fire till rice and prawns are fully cooked. Prawn Biryani is ready to serve.

    Heat ghee in a large skillet over medium heat.

    In another vessel, boil 3 pints of water and add the rice with cardamoms, cloves, peppercorns and cinnamon tied in muslin and boil uncovered till the rice is cooked.

    Drain in a colander.

    In a fire-proof dish, put a layer of rice, then a layer of curry and then another layer of rice.

    Cover and put in a slow oven for 10 minutes. Prawn Pulao is ready to serve.
