    For Gulab Jamun Dough:

    • 500 gm khoya (ricotta cheese)
    • 70 gm plain flour (maida)
    • 1/4 tsp baking powder
    • 1 /4 tsp cardamom powder
    • ghee or oil for frying

    For Sugar Syrup:

    • 4 cup sugar
    • 2 cup water
    • 2 green cardamom pods
    • 2-3 drops of rose water
    • few stands of saffron (optional)

    For Garnishing:

    • 2 tbsp pistachio, grated
    • 2 tbsp almonds, grated

    Step 1

    In a large bowl add khoya, plain flour , baking powder and cardamom powder and mix well.

    Step 2

    Knead to a firm dough without using any water.

    Step 3

    Divide into 25 equal portions and shape into small balls.

    Step 4

    These should have no cracks on the surface as otherwise the gulab jamuns will crack while frying.Keep aside.

    Step 5

    Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan over medium low heat.

    Step 6

    Deep fry prepared balls on a low flame for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.

    Step 7

    As the balls turn golden brown, remove them from the oil and immerse in the warm sugar syrup for 30 minutes.

    Step 8

    After that transfer into the serving dish.

    Step 9

    Sprinkle chopped almonds and pistachio over the top. Gulab Jamun with khoya is ready to serve.

    For Gulab Jamun:

    • 1/2 kg khoya (ricotta cheese)
    • 1 egg
    • 3 tablespoon plain flour
    • 3 tablespoon sooji
    • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

    For Sugar Syrup:

    • 1/2 kg sugar
    • 2 cups water
    • 1/2 teaspoon green cardamom powder

    For Garnishing:

    • silver papers
    • pistachios and almonds

    Yield:6 servings

    Directions:

    1. In a large bowl, combine the khoya, egg,  plain flour, sooji, oil, sugar and  baking powder.
    2. Knead a soft dough.
    3. Make small balls out of the dough.
    4. Now heat oil in a deep pan.
    5. Fry gulab jamuns for 5-6 minutes or  until golden brown.
    6. Meanwhile, bring water to a boil in a  large pot.
    7. Add sugar and cardamom powder.
    8. Cook for 30 minutes or until sugar syrup  is thickened.
    9. Put gulab jamun in the sugar syrup.
    10. Cover the pot or until gulab jamun  absorbed the syrup.
    11. Dish it out.
    12. Garnish with silver paper.
    13. Sprinkle almonds and pistachios over the  gulab jamuns.
    14. Delicious Gulab Jamun is ready to serve.

  • Malai Gulab Jamun Recipe

    Malai Gulab Jamun – the name itself tempts us very much right?  It is the most easiest sweet recipe that we can make for any occasions like Eid or birthdays, anniversaries or any celebration. These Malai Gulab Jamun are different from normal gulab jamun, as they contains good amount of Semolina (suji) and a unique ingredients are fresh cream and desiccated coconut.     Step 1

    In a large bowl, combine the flour, semolina, powder milk, clarified butter, baking powder, milk and salt. Knead a soft dough with your hands. Step 2 Cover the dough and leave it for 30 minutes.

    Step 3

    To Make sugar syrup: In a saucepan, add sugar, water, green cardamom and saffron stands. Bring water to a boil. Cook and stir over medium heat for 20 minutes or until sugar dissolves.

    Step 4

    Keep aside.

    Make small balls of the dough with wet fingers. (note: make sure the balls have no crack on the surface).

    Step 6

    Heat oil in a deep pan over medium high heat. Deep fry the prepared gulab jamuns until golden brown. Remove from the oil and add into the warm sugar syrup. Mix and cover wit a lid.

    Step 7

    Leave them as it is in sugar syrup for at least 2 hours.

    Step 8

    Gently squeeze out the syrup and make a slit on any one end of the gulab jamun.

    Step 9

    Fill in the cream then roll in the desiccated coconut.

    Garnish with pistachios and almonds. Malai Gulab Jamun is ready to serve. Enjoy!!

    Step 1

    Take a large bowl, add milk powder, baking powder, plain flour, semolina, butter, fresh cream and cardamom powder. Mix until well combined.

    Now add egg in small portions. Knead a smooth dough. Cover dough with a wet cloth and leave it at room temperature for 15 minutes.

    Step 3

    To Make Sugar Syrup ( Sheera):

    Take a medium pot, add water, sugar and cardamom pods. Bring to a boil and cook for 10-12 minutes or make half thread sugar syrup. Keep warm.
    Step 4

    First, take a little ball of dough and make it round with your hands then fill with chocolate chips and shape into a ball.

    Step 5

    Heat oil in a deep wok over medium-low heat. Fry them on the low flame for few minutes or until golden brown; stirring constantly.

    Step 6

    Remove from the oil and put chocolate gulab jamun into sugar syrup. Cover with the lid and soak for 20 minutes.

    Step 7

    Transfer into a servings bowl. Leave it for few minutes or until chocolate will set. So when you will cut it with spoon so you will see chocolate chunks in it. Chocolate Gulab Jamun is ready to serve. Enjoy!!

    • Remember softer dough, softer will be the Gulab Jamuns.
